4 Locating Technologies
| Technology | Full Name | How It Works | Typical Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPS | Global Positioning System | Uses satellites to determine the device's location outdoors. | 3 – 10 metres outdoors |
| BLE | Bluetooth Low Energy | Uses nearby Bluetooth beacons or devices to determine proximity and location. Commonly used indoors. | 1 – 5 metres |
| Wi-Fi | Wireless Fidelity Positioning | Uses nearby Wi-Fi networks and their known locations to estimate position. Useful where GPS signals are weak. | 10 – 30 metres |
| LBS | Location-Based Services (Cell Tower Positioning) | Uses nearby cellular towers to estimate location when GPS or Wi-Fi are unavailable. | 100 metres to several kilometres |
The four locating technologies GPS, BLE, Wi-Fi, and LBS are commonly used in personal safety devices, panic buttons, asset trackers, and mobile devices. Each works differently and has its own strengths.

IP67 Waterproof
IP67 is an international rating that indicates how well a device is protected against dust and water.
- IP = Ingress Protection
- 6 = Completely dust-tight (highest dust protection rating)
- 7 = Protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre deep for up to 30 minutes
What IP67 means in practice:
- Rain and splashes
- Dusty environments
- Accidental drops into water (e.g. a pool, bucket, or puddle)
- Washing with a damp cloth
What IP67 does NOT mean:
- Suitable for swimming or diving
- High-pressure water jets (e.g. pressure washers)
- Prolonged submersion deeper than 1 metre
- Saltwater exposure without proper cleaning afterwards
Shower Use
- Wearing it during a quick shower is generally acceptable.
- It should withstand splashes, soap, and normal shower water.
- Avoid exposing it to very hot water for extended periods.
- Avoid directing a high-pressure shower jet directly onto the device for long periods.
- After showering, rinse off any soap residue and dry the charging contacts before charging.
Pacemakers and Panic Buttons
According to the FDA, those wearing a pacemaker can still safely use a cell phone by taking two simple precautions:
- Proper storage – Avoid placing a turn-on phone next to the pacemaker implant.
- For instance, don't carry the phone in a shirt or jacket pocket that rests over the pacemaker.
For our Panic Buttons, we recommend a similar approach, advising customers not to wear them around the neck. We offer accessories such as clips, wristbands, and pouch bags for more convenient options.

Aura Subscribers: Max 4 contacts, not 5
Ringtone: Can be muted (vibrate-only) for discreet emergencies (e.g., hijacking/kidnapping).
3.7V Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery
The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first
General Guidelines on fall detection
Fall detection is not an exact science. The sensitivity of the feature is determined by the settings of the accelerometer inside the Panic Button. While the system is designed to detect significant falls, there are certain limitations to be aware of:
The impact of a fall may not always be severe enough to trigger the Fall Detect emergency.
If the deceleration registered by the accelerometer is lower than the set threshold, the fall may not be recognized.
Falls on softer surfaces, such as a carpet from a height of 1 meter, may not activate the feature.
Falls on solid surfaces may also not trigger an alert due to factors like the shape of the Panic Button and the angle at which it contacts the surface.
Important Tips:
It is possible that the device may not detect every real fall.
